The support of Mr. Fields, Mr. Tepper and the Carolina Panthers led to the approval of a $250,000 NFL Grassroots Grant. The funds will be used toward installing an artificial turf field at Chestnut Square Park, which will provide enhanced facilities for our local and regional athletes.
With their contribution, the Town will be able to cover the remaining cost of the project. The new turf field with future stadium seating will give us the opportunity to draw athletes of all ages and their families from across Union County, showing them all that Indian Trail has to offer.
We could not have made this happen without the support and collaboration of the Carolina Panthers organization.
The project is currently in the design phase, with a goal of completing the project by October so it will be available for several tournaments that are already scheduled for this fall, including the “NC Special Olympics.”
