Residents will soon begin to see improvements being made at the intersection of Unionville-Indian Trail Road and Sardis Church Road in preparation for the installation of a roundabout next year. The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) and the Town of Indian Trail have mutually agreed to divide the project into two phases.
Phase 1, which will begin sometime in August, will include the installation of all water and sewer infrastructures, as well as various other items that will not impact drivers that use the intersection daily. Drivers may experience minor delays, such as temporary lane closures, for Phase 1 during workday hours.
Phase 2, which will begin at the end of the 2019-2020 school year, will involve the complete closure of the intersection in order to construct the roundabout.
The goal of the project is to increase safety and traffic flow at that intersection.
