New Affinity Trail to open between Downtown, Uptown Indian Trail

The Affinity Trail

A new trail connecting Indian Trail’s Uptown and Downtown areas will soon open to the public.

The Affinity Trail, which has trailheads behind the Indian Trail Town Hall and beside the Indian Trail bureau of the Union County Sheriff’s Office, will open with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, Nov. 13, at 6 p.m. at Town Hall. The public is invited to check out the lighted, curving walkway and learn more about the project at this time.

The trail will not only provide a new place for joggers to enjoy the outdoors while staying in the heart of Indian Trail, but also connect to other pedestrian walkability projects being established in the area and stretching all the way across U.S. 74 to Crooked Creek Park.

“It’s very common to see residents jog around Chestnut Square Park and Town Hall, so we wanted to create a safe, lighted and inviting path for them and others to use to connect with the Uptown area,” Indian Trail Director of Communications Mike Parks said. “As we see the Uptown and Downtown of Indian Trail continue to develop over the next few years, we know the Affinity Trail will serve as a key connection for those wishing to park their cars and walk to all the places they wish to visit.”
