A zoning permit is required for structural additions to a residential home. These additions include decks, screened porches, or conversions of garages to living area. Detached structures also require permitting. The intent of these regulations are to ensure building codes and zoning codes such as minimum separations between property lines are observed which protect the property value of your investment and neighborhood. The hotline for athletic field closure is 704-821-4950. This hotline will be updated in the event of inclement weather and the need to close down fields. We will update the line when necessary by 4 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. on weekends.

Calling 911 will get information to an officer in the quickest manner. If the matter is not an emergency, you may call the Union County Sheriff’s Office at 704-283-3791. You may ask that the officer simply call you if you can not meet with one. While some matters will require meeting with an officer, simple matters that can be handled over the telephone can help conserve time and fuel.

Deputies do reports and other office duties at this location, but currently there is not an officer assigned to work at the location at all hours. If you need an officer to meet you at the Town Hall, you may call 704-283-3791 to request someone.
You can contact Lt. Malcolm Murray by calling our main office at 704-283-3791 or email him at Malcolm@unioncountync.gov to request the radar trailer or request targeted traffic enforcement. If you email, please provide details such as road name, nearest cross street or block range, and the day of week / times of day that you observe repeat violations. Not all areas are suitable for the radar trailer’s application, but it is an effective tool to deter speeding in some locations.
