Indian Trail Yard Debris Program Began October 1, 2007
In June of 2007, the Town of Indian Trail adopted its first “Yard Debris” program. For some time, residents have asked for help with yard waste and what to do with it. This includes leaves, grass clippings, sticks, and limbs.
"The Council had a concern about paying for a service that would not be used by all residents. It would be very expensive to provide to all residents”, said Ed Humphries, Town Manager.
Councilman Ray Killough asked if there was a way to offer a “fee based” service. In other words, “If you want the service, you can pay for it”. After working on the policy, the Council started a “fee based” program on October 1, 2007. It provides once a week collection with up to three containers to be picked up by Action Garbage the same day your household trash is picked up.
The fee (payable in advance) is $65 per year (October to October) with the homeowner purchasing the container(s) from the town for $65 each. After October 31, 2007, please call Town Hall (704-821-8114) for the correct prorated service fee which will be based on the month your service begins.
The total cost of the first year is $130. After the first year, the town will set the fee which is now $65. A sticker will be placed on the container for the current year of service. Applications for service may be picked up at Town Hall, or you may print out the Resident Agreement link below and mail to Town Hall.
