YARD DEBRIS POLICY

 

 

The Town will provide “yard debris” service on a fee basis.  The residents of Indian Trail have the option of having/paying for the service as follows:

 

SERVICE

  • Once a week, to be picked up on regularly scheduled garbage pickup day.
  • All yard debris must be in a yard debris container provided by the Town.  A resident can have up to 3 containers.
  • Debris that is not in the container, or other bulk items other than household trash, must be disposed of by the resident by contracting with Action Garbage or another company.

 

PAYMENT

  • Resident may come to Town Hall and sign up for service or mail application found on website along with payment.  Payment may also be made by credit card through the website.  An application must be signed stating that the applicant understands the policy.
  • The fee will be $65 a year for the service payable in advance.
  • A container will be supplied to the resident along with a sticker to be placed on the container.  The cost of each container is $65 and will be the property of the resident.  Only the debris container sold by the Town will be picked up.  Total cost for first year is $130.00 (additional charge of $1.00 for postage if sticker mailed to resident).
  • New service purchased anytime during the fiscal year (October 1 to September 30) will be prorated to October 1.
  • No refunds for part of year not used.
  • The sticker will be valid for one year and renews on October 1 of every year.  Service can begin any month.

  • Renewals can be handled in person or by mail (additional charge of $1.00 for postage) and will not be prorated.
  • If the sticker is “out of date” the container will not be emptied.

 

What can be put in the container?

  • Yard waste only (natural growth) which includes leaves, grass clippings, and sticks created in resident’s own residential unit. No household trash.
  • DO NOT PLACE YARD WASTE IN PLASTIC BAGS PRIOR TO PLACING IN CONTAINER.
  • Limbs no longer than 4 feet.
  • Limbs no larger than 3 inches in diameter.            
  • The container will be picked up on the same day as your regular garbage pickup.
  • Excess debris cannot exceed two (2) feet over top of container.

          Container(s) will not be picked up if the above requirements are not followed.
