The Town of Indian Trail operates as a council-manager form of government; that is, the Town Council establishes the Town's policies which are then carried out by the Town Manager and Staff.
Several other boards and committees have been established as well, including:
1. The Planning Board, to review future growth within the Town, and ensure consistency with current plans and regulations;
2. The Board of Adjustment, to hear and decide appeals and interpretations of the Town's Unified Development Ordinance;
3. The ABC Control Board, with the responsibility of operating one ABC retail store, and
4. Various Advisory Committees, to advise council on issues and initiatives ranging from transporation to public safety.![]()

Application to Serve on Town Boards or Committees
Each board and committee operates under a specific set of duties. Some of the groups serve as decision-making bodies, and others are designed to function in a recommending capacity; all however, are working towards to ultimate goal of creating a better town for all current and future citizens.
