Overview
The Transportation Committee is made up of nine members, two of which are alternates, and one of whom is a member of the Town Council. All members are residents within Indian Trail. There is also a staff representitive for the Committee. The Transportation Committee meets on the 1st Tuesday of every month at the Indian Trail Civic Building.
Purpose
The purpose of the Transportation Committee is to advise Council on transportation objectives and priorities within the Town, as well as transportation projects and funding. This committee also promotes effective transportation routes and alternatives for the Town.
General duties of this committee include:
- Learning about planning, safety, facilities construction and fiscal constraints, and using that knowledge combined with their collective experience to accomplish the committee’s goals;
- Assisting the staff in planning for motorists, pedestrians, bicyclists, and transit riders;
- Advising the Council on the Town’s Capital Improvement Program, planned Powell Bill expenditures, and thoroughfare priority ranking;
- Proposing and recommending policy to the Town Council as it relates to transportation, roadways and other components of the Town's public infrastructure.
