The Parks, Tree and Greenway Committee is comprised of seven members and the Urban Forester with Union County Cooperative Extension. Members of this Committee must be qualified in planning, developing, and the management of parks and greenways, and in deliberating over tree-related issues. One member of this Committee is to have at least two years experience in the previously mentioned qualifications, and in addition, be qualified in landscape planning or architecture, or conservation or preservation planning and development. Each member is assigned by the Town Council for a three year term.
The Parks, Tree, and Greenway Committee served as the steering committee for the Comprehensive Parks Master Plan, adopted in February 2010. The Committee aims to raise awareness of the Town’s natural resources, making them available to its citizens to the greatest extent possible, in a responsible manner.
