The Public Safety Committee was created in March of 2008, and held its first meeting in September of the same year. It is comprised of seven members and two alternates, all of whom are residents within the Town. There is also a staff representative for the Committee, who organizes meetings, conducts various research, and reports to Council.
The purpose of this appointed advisory committee is to advise and make recommendations to the Town Council regarding public safety issues and the Town’s ability to handle public safety situations. Also, to advise Council on educating the community about public safety issues, concerns, and programs, to review public safety policies and plans, and to facilitate community involvement in public safety and increase citizen awareness. Finally, the committee is tasked with improving and promoting cooperation and coordination between the community and public safety agencies.
