Grand Marshal Selected For Annual July 4th Parade
Sixteen year old Indian Trail resident Greyson McCluskey has been selected as the grand marshal for the annual Indian Trail July 4th Parade. An honor student and aspiring architect, McCluskey was selected for the role because of his recent success as the national winner for the Wouldn’t It Be Cool If … contest sponsored by Time Warner Cable and i.am FIRST.
McCluskey developed his Baby Safe Rider – a mechanism for toddler car seats that would detect elevated temperatures in babies – as a way to address incidents of vehicular hypothermia fatalities in the U.S. McCluskey stated he was inspired to create the Baby Safe Rider after the recent birth of his cousin Annabelle. He entered the Wouldn’t It Be Cool If… contest after his mom saw the campaign commercial featuring Black Eyed Peas artist will.i.am.
Joined by family and friends McClusky will be on the grand marshal float at the start of the annual Indian Trail July 4th parade. The parade is scheduled to begin at 11:30a.m. Wednesday, July 4th and will travel down Indian Trail Road. Additional festivities including free bounce houses, games and a watermelon eating contest will begin at 9:30a.m. at Indian Trail Town Hall. Parking is available at Indian Trail Town Hall, and in the grass parking lot behind the Sheriff’s office on Navajo Trail.
