Creekside Disc Golf Course ready to host Senior Games

Creekside Disc Golf

Indian Trail’s Creekside Disc Golf Course will soon play host to the 2018 United Senior Games Disc Golf Tournament.

Creekside, an 18-hole course that opened in 2016 at Crooked Creek Park, will host the athletes on Monday, April 30, starting at 10 a.m. This will be the first official tournament held at the short, technical course.

The Indian Trail Parks and Recreation Department, which is partnering with Monroe Parks and Recreation to host the tournament, is eager to welcome athletes to one of the few disc golf courses in all of Union County.

“We’re excited to see the best our local athletes have to offer, and hope they’ll find Creekside to be a fun, but challenging, test for them,” Indian Trail Recreation Athletic Coordinator Seth Carroll said. “We expect to see some great competition out there, and we encourage all our local disc golfers to sign up.”

The disc golf tournament is one of only two United Senior Games events taking place in Indian Trail. The Putt-Putt Golf Tournament will take place at Trails Dynasty Mini Golf.

The United Senior Games are open to any Union County resident age 50 or older as of Dec. 31, 2018, and who lives in the county at least three months out of the year. Athletes must participate in the United Senior Games in order to qualify for the North Carolina State Finals, to be held in Raleigh. Athletes can pick up a registration form at the Indian Trail Town Hall or a Monroe Parks and Recreation facility. Forms must be delivered to the Ellen Fitzgerald Senior Center in Monroe by 5 p.m. on Monday, April 2.

Creekside is located at Crooked Creek Park, at 5900 Oakwood Lane. Find more information at or by calling 704-821-8114.
