[ARCHIVED] Indian Trail to Hold Public Input Meeting for Indian Trail Road Complete Street Project

Complete Street_Public Meeting

The Town of Indian Trail is hosting a Public Input Meeting for the Indian Trail Road Complete Street project on Thursday, May 26, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the Shirley Howe Community Room at Town Hall (315 Matthews Indian Trail Road).

The Complete Street Project will consist of transportation improvements along Indian Trail Road between Gribble Road and Liberty Lane. The improvements will include the construction of storm drainage and the installation of curb and gutter, 10-foot multi-use concrete paths, several turn lanes, traffic signals and a roundabout.

During the meeting, guests will be able to view the roadway design plans, which will be separated into several large maps displayed on easels throughout the room. They’ll also be able to view renderings of what the final improvements will look like once the project is complete. Town staff and the project consultant, RS&H, Inc., will be available to answer questions.

Guests will also be able to provide feedback on the project during the meeting either online or via a paper form.

“The Complete Street project is a once-in-a-lifetime chance for the Town to transform the Downtown Area along this corridor. The overall goal is to create a walkable downtown for our community with the added bonus of improving the traffic congestion along Indian Trail Road,” said Todd Huntsinger, director of engineering for the Town of Indian Trail. “This long-awaited project will create additional turn lanes at our main intersections and provide a new traffic signal at Gribble Road and South Fork Road. The Town is also working closely with Duke Energy to install underground power facilities in order to remove all vertical power poles to create a more appealing-looking corridor. We want to make sure we get this right and incorporate input from our residents and business owners where possible. Come take a look at the project, see what we have planned for Indian Trail Road, and share your thoughts.”

If you’re unable to attend the meeting and would like to learn about the project, contact Huntsinger at 704-821-5401 or tdh@indiantrail.org. You can also visit https://www.indiantrail.org/646/Indian-Trail-Road-Complete-Street to learn more about the Complete Street project.
