Staff members of the Town of Indian Trail joined forces throughout October to raise awareness of breast cancer and help fund local efforts to support women in need.
Staff wore pink every Thursday in October, donating $1 each time for the Firefighters for the Cure nonprofit. Indian Trail employees raised $95 for the cause, while also spreading awareness of breast cancer issues while working in the community.
“We are honored to be able to give back to our community in whatever way we can,” Indian Trail Director of Communications Mike Parks said. “We encourage all our residents to learn the warning signs of breast cancer, and to reach out to our nonprofit partner Firefighters for the Cure if they are in need.”
Also in October, the Indian Trail Parks and Recreation Department partnered with Firefighters for the Cure to host a 5K race, with proceeds from the event helping provide mammograms for uninsured women. Nearly 40 mammograms were provided by a mobile unit during the event.
