[ARCHIVED] Residents: Your Input Needed on NCDOT Road Projects

The North Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking resident input on funding road projects scheduled for the years 2020 to 2029, and a handful of Indian Trail projects are on the list.

Indian Trail road projects/funding schedule being considered include: the widening of Old Monroe Road/Old Charlotte Highway throughout Indian Trail, at a budget of $38.1 million; widening Wesley Chapel-Stouts Road to four lanes from U.S. 74 to Rogers Road, at a budget of $31.9 million; creating a bridge over the railroad tracks on Wesley Chapel-Stouts Road, at a budget of $10 million; the Price Mill Creek Greenway between Old Monroe Road and Garden Oak Drive, at a budget of $3.15 million; and bicycle lanes along Brandon Oaks Drive and neighborhood sidewalk connections from Beacon Hills to nearby attractions, at a budget of $262,500.

Residents can reach out to NCDOT from Monday, Feb. 25, to March 1 to provide input on the proposed schedule and funding.

“We hope our residents will take advantage of this opportunity to let NCDOT know how vital these projects would be for our community,” Indian Trail Director of Communications Mike Parks said. “Town officials are always working closely with our partners with the State to make sure our transportation needs are being met, and our residents speaking up about their needs will help strengthen our push to bring more projects to Indian Trail.”

Residents will be able to learn more about the projects and make comments at the NCDOT office in Albemarle, at 716 W. Main St., throughout next week. They also can provide comments online through April 15 at https://publicinput.com/2020-2029-STIP. The plan will be considered for final approval this summer, according to the NCDOT.
