[ARCHIVED] Touch-a-Truck event coming to Chestnut Square Park

More than 30 vehicles of all shapes, sizes and uses will descend on Chestnut Square Park soon for the Indian Trail Touch-a-Truck festival.

The event, scheduled for Saturday, March 23, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., is a partnership between the Town of Indian Trail and the Union County Public Works Department. It will include law enforcement vehicles, fire trucks, garbage trucks and much more – including a helicopter landing by MedCenter Air at 11:15 a.m. and a Jaws of Life demonstration by the Stallings Fire Department at 1 p.m. The event also will include an hour, from 10 to 11 a.m., when no sirens and no lights will be used for families who wish to attend during that time. Afterward, all sirens and horns will be sounded at noon.

“Our Touch-a-Truck festival is a great opportunity for kids and the young at heart to get hands-on with emergency vehicles, service vehicles and even some of the big toys our Public Works Department gets to play with every day,” Indian Trail Special Event Coordinator Hayden Kramer said. “Not only that, but families will get to talk with the Union County Sheriff’s Office deputies and our staff who operate these vehicles to learn about how they work and some of the cool things they are capable of.”

Other cool and unique vehicles available will be the Zamboni from the Extreme Ice Center, the Coca-Cola Monster Truck, two historic pieces from VFW Post 2423 and other surprises. In addition to all the vehicles, Indian Trail’s Touch-a-Truck also will include a bounce house, face painting and food trucks.

Chestnut Square Park is located at 320 Chestnut Pkwy.
