On Wednesday, May 6, the intersection of Sardis Church Road and Unionville-Indian Trail Road, in Indian Trail, will be closed for the construction of a roundabout. The intersection is expected to be closed until Aug.21, 2020. The goal of the project is to increase safety and traffic flow at that intersection.
Residents can use Secrest Short Cut Road and Faith Church Road as a detour until the project is complete. A map of the detour can be found below or on the Town’s website at https://www.indiantrail.org/534/Sardis-Church-Road-Roundabout.
Construction on the roundabout was originally set to begin at the end of the 2019-2020 school year. With schools being closed for the remainder of the year due to COVID-19, work on the project can begin earlier.
Sardis Elementary is a Union County Public Schools meal site, and they will continue to operate the meal program at this location.
