The Town of Indian Trail will host its annual July 4 Parade on Thursday, July 4. The parade will kick off at 11:30 a.m., beginning at Post Office Drive. Parade floats will travel one mile down Indian Trail Road to Old Monroe Road, where the parade will conclude.
During the parade, attendees will be treated to seeing floats, vehicles, and walking groups from our local first responders, local businesses, the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, the VFW and American Legion, and the Indian Trail Mayor and Town Council. Plus, there will be lots of candy! The parade is being sponsored by Samson Tree LLC. Parking will be available at Chestnut Square Park, the Indian Trail Town Hall, and Crossing Paths Park. Additional spots will be available along the route to watch the parade.
Leading the parade this year will be the James B. Crump VFW Post 2423 Honor Guard. The Honor Guard travels across North Carolina and neighboring states to serve at military funerals of Union County veterans. The Honor Guard also performs the Presentation of Colors at the Town’s Memorial Day and Veterans Day ceremonies, local football games, and business openings and participates in local parades. They also visit elementary schools to teach the fifth-grade students how to raise, lower, and properly fold the flag. The Honor Guard also regularly visits veterans at local nursing homes.
The Town Council selected the Honor Guard for its continued service to our country, veterans, and the Indian Trail community.
“The July 4 parade is a long-standing and much-loved tradition that we look forward to every year,” said Mayor David Cohn. “It’s the perfect way to bring the community together to celebrate July 4 and our great country. And what better group to serve as the July 4 parade Grand Marshal than the James B. Crump VFW Post 2423 Honor Guard? We appreciate all they do for our community, its veterans, and their families. I look forward to seeing everyone decked out in red, white, and blue along the parade route.”
